COUNCIL GOES DIFFERENSIAL RATING

As a result the fresh revaluation the North Midlands Council resolved that Differensial General Rating would be levied for the first time in respect of the municipal area. In arriving at this decision, Council considered the following points; (a) After seven years since the last revaluation, the fresh valuation of the council, which became effective from 1 July 2007 did not in, the Council’s opinion, provide the basis for an equitable distribution of the rate burden if only one General Rate was adopted. (b) Northern Midlands council adopted a $14.4m budget including $7.5m in capital works programs.
